PKA-Kickboxing
Black Belt
Ivan Malinka Wins Golden Belt!
PKA Black
Belt Ivan Malinka wins the GBMA Full Contact
Golden Belt. Fighting in Widnes,
Cheshire in October 2008, Ivan fought Mike
Ryan in the 72-74kg weight category.
Fighting traditional kickboxing rules, but
with low kicks allowed, the fight went the
full 3 rounds. After a tremendous fight Ivan
won unanimously on points. Ivan trained
extremely hard for this fight, losing 13kg
to make the weight. Daily running, weight
training and skipping; and a strict diet of
rice, chicken and poached eggs was his
secret for the weight loss. Ivan hopes to
fight as many times as he can in 2009, and
we look forward to him fighting at the 2009
PKA Nationals.
Awesome! Is the only word
to describe the month long tour of Scott
Adkins exclusively teaching PKA-Kickboxing
students his unique Power Combinations
techniques. In an unprecedented move,
Scott Adkins agreed to teach his very
special and very rewarding power increasing
techniques—techniques that just about anyone
can apply straight away.
During the 3 hour seminars, Scott revealed
little known body-weight and body-shifting
techniques that are responsible for his
tremendous power, along with a ton of tips
and tricks all the students will remember
for a very long time to come.
We
simply can't wait to see if in the future
Scott is able to do more seminars for us,
but with a busy filming schedule we'll have
to wait.
In
the meantime, check out his latest film
'Ninja', due for release in early 2009—it's
going to be a corker!
Behind the acrobatics and movie showmanship,
lie some very special techniques—moves very
few people know about. Just by repositioning
your feet, or even just by changing the way
you angle your body can literally transform
your kicks and punches.
Scott Adkins is
going to show you, in detail, how to punch
and kick with real power and with ease; yet
without you having to have any extraordinary
skills or flexibility.
See, Scott Adkins has shot movies with
Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Jean Claude Van
Damme. He has trained along side the very
best professional martial arts stunt guys in
the business. And get this—they all hit
hard.
In a top martial arts movie, to make
things look realistic, often the actors have
to make contact—otherwise it just wouldn't
look good on film. But, the actors have to
do hundreds of takes in a movie; so their
technique not only has to look good in front of the
camera, BUT deliver consistently—and the
only way to do that is to know how to
perform techniques efficiently.
Scott Adkins is a master of being able to
deliver some of the most powerful techniques
in the movies—but know this, those
techniques really are powerful. No
fake moves, no wires, no CGI; because
of knowing how to perform a technique in the
most efficient way—makes them deadly fast
and powerful.
By adding some of these very simple,
efficient techniques to your existing kicks
and punches, will leave you literally
stunned at how hard you can hit.
Here's what you'll
learn on this awesome, 3-hour, action packed
seminar:
Part 1 - Power Kicking Secrets
If
you came to Scott Adkins' hugely successful
'Power Kicking Seminars,' again exclusively
for PKA students, you'll know just how
exciting it was...
If you missed these seminars, then the
first part of this course will blow you
away.
You'll be going into some of the most
sought after training techniques to Scott
Adkins' key elements of power kicking:
Power kicks come from aligning 3
critical parts of your body. It's a
simple concept that will immediately and
noticeably make any of your kicks
faster, more natural and more powerful.
One easy motion added to your front
kick, will turn it from a weak flick to
a real weapon of choice. The front kick
can be one of the most powerful kicks in
the martial arts—if you know this
technique.
How to finally master the most
popular kick in the martial
arts—everybody has problems with it—now
it's easily fixed.
How by simply re-positioning your
feet makes your kicks faster ... sounds
too good to be true, but not when you
actually see and feel the difference for
yourself.
By using a curious mental 'trick'
just before your start a kick, will make
your foot reach the target far quicker
than you would have ever believed—again
you will see this in practise.
How to place your head, of all
things; for a lot of people bad balance
can be overcome by learning where your
head should angled during a kick—you'll
never be off balance and thus deliver
powerful kicks that have always been
inside you.
Scott Adkins will show you all of his
methods on how to get fast, powerful kicks
with minimum effort—once you learn these
methods you'll understand the true meaning
of power kicks. Next up you'll learn:
Part 2 - Power Punching Secrets
Never taught before, total insider
information on how to land punches like
artillery shells—we're not kidding. Although
Scott Adkins is renowned by martial arts
fans as one of the best kickers in the
world, behind the scenes actors and stuntmen
know he's one of the hardest punchers in the
industry...
This is no accident. Scott Adkins has
trained very hard to learn the simplest, yet
most effective methods to punch fast and
with such impact that a single punch could
end a fight.
You'll discover:
Punching power has nothing to do
with your arms. Two key areas of your
body you have to move in a very specific
way if you want to generate maximum
force.
How by placing your legs at the
correct distance before you
punch, will create a twice fold increase
in power.
The four point checklist of where
certain body parts should be for correct
protection and delivery of punches.
How to project your body weight into
a punch—it's the key of hard punching.
So many people get it wrong ... you'll
be shown exactly how to do it.
Which parts of your knuckles to
strike with—each punch has a different
area for maximum impact; what you'll
learn feels more natural and reduces
injury for yourself.
How to create angles whilst you're
punching. Your opponent won't know what
hit them; after you've been shown how to
remain balanced, and strike outside of a
predicable straight line.
After learning these simple concepts of
power punching, you'll be moving onto the
part of the course that will bring
everything together; the ability to put
kicks and punches together in a dynamic and
powerful way; this is the true hall-mark of
a kickboxer ... prepare yourself for:
Part 3 - Power Combinations
Combinations ... this is not what you
think. A lot of people think kickboxing
combinations are just about randomly
sticking punches with kicks. The Scott
Adkins approach is different...
A
power combination has to be a fluid,
explosive powerhouse flurry of strikes—which
can executed instantaneously, and have a
natural feel about them ... that's what
you'll be learning.
Footwork is critical; striking distance
is critical; choice of combination is
critical; you'll be shown it all.
You'll be working your new punching
skills on the pads ... then working your new
kicking skills on the pads ... then
working power combinations on the pads.
Scott Adkins will show you all the
tricks, tips and moves to becoming one heck
of a formidable fighting force—high punches,
low punches; high kicks, low
kicks—combination drills to create angles to
give you the upper hand in any fighting
scenario.
At the end of the seminar you won't
believe what you've just been through—and
most importantly what you'll have gained in
your ability as a martial artist—but don't
take our word for it...

Features in the UK's Biggest Selling Health
Magazine
The head of PKA-Kickboxing
Mr. Haig, was delighted when the country's
largest health magazine 'Healthy' asked him to talk
about the benefits of PKA-Kickboxing.
In the September/October 2008 edition, Mr.
Haig talks about how sport kickboxing
originated in the 1970's with the PKA in
California... how it evolved and how now
comes in so many different forms.
He then goes on to talk about the
cardiovascular and muscular benefit you get
when practising kickboxing movements...
and that if you want to start doing PKA-Kickboxing
it doesn't matter if you are unfit, as
everyone is gradually brought in at their
own pace.
In addition you'll gain large increases
in your flexibility, stamina and confidence...
plus perhaps one of the biggest benefits of
all - the ability to defend yourself in a
simple and efficient way using
kickboxing techniques.
The Principal goes on to dismiss the myth
that kickboxing is predominantly male based
- in PKA-Kickboxing half of all our members
are women... which shows our measured and
enjoyable approach to teaching kickboxing.
Healthy magazine is published by, and
exclusively available in Holland & Barrett
stores throughout the country, priced at only

Stacey Cadman just pipped in the running to
win Sky One's
'Cirque de Celebrite'
PKA-Kickboxing instructor
Stacey Cadman just missed out on winning
Cirque de Celebrite 2007, coming runner up
to Australian actor Kyal Marsh. After
an exciting finale, Stacey pulled out all
the stops to push for the win, but tonight
the judges gave the overall prize to Kyal.
Stacey has beaten off some extremely
formidable competition during the gruelling
schedule. Her natural flexibility and
gymnastic skills really did give her an
edge, and she proved extremely popular with
the packed-out audiences. The show has been
an outstanding success.
To
read more about Stacey and her experiences
on the show, please see her exclusive
interview in the December 2007 edition of
'Combat' magazine available at all good
newsagents.

Lucie Simpson began her training with PKA-Kickboxing in Carlton, Nottingham
on the 24th of January 2005 with PKA-Kickboxing
instructor Dan Maguire. Quickly making her
way through the early grades, Lucie soon
became one of the most dedicated and hard
working students within the club. Lucie also
trained at the Gedling class under the clubs
original Instructor Danny Ryland and more
recently with Instructors James Turner and
Melissa Firmstone.
Lucie made a name for herself at the PKA tournaments
picking up a silver medal in the Ladies
Sport Kickboxing (High Grade) Category at
the PKA-Kickboxing Nationals last year and
had a huge amount of support from her fellow
PKA students, eventually losing in a very
close battle with Bernie Regan from Derby
who took the gold.
Earlier this year Lucie attended the Black Belt 1st dan
grading in Birmingham, as expected she
passed the grading with flying colours.
Within a couple of weeks Lucie was awarded
her black belt in front of the class at
Carlton, obviously thrilled and proud to
wear her PKA-Kickboxing Black Belt. Since
then she continued her training with
Instructor Melissa Firmstone at the ladies
only class in Arnold, Nottingham.
On Sunday the 6th May we received the terrible news of
Lucie's death. She had been involved in an
accident on Friday afternoon at her place of
work. Lucie died after being kicked by a
horse just weeks into her new job at a
riding school, she was assisting a vet in
delivering a foal. Despite frantic efforts
to revive her she never regained
consciousness and later died in hospital.
Lucie was without doubt a prominent member of the
Nottingham PKA-Kickboxing classes, a
fantastic martial artist and a great
fighter, she was liked by all and respected
by many, she will be sorely missed by all
who knew her.
All our thoughts go out to her family and friends at
this difficult time.
